Welcome
Over the last few years, we have performed at a number of concerts together and we were encouraged to capture the unique Father and Son combination on disc.
The original plan was to record a few songs for our friends and family, but as the project gathered momentum, it became clear that we might have something special which would appeal to a larger audience. The fact that Flynn was nearing the end of his time as a treble added to the excitement surrounding the recording.
In June 2008 we spent three days at Aysgarth Prep School in Yorkshire. Christmas music and the songs of Warlock and Butterworth (an Aysgarth Old Boy) were the challenge. 'The Spirit of Christmas' was the result.
In March 2009 we followed Flynn to Uppingham School and completed our second CD, a selection of English Song. As well as the Warlock songs and Butterworth's 'Shropshire Lad', 'Boyhood's End' includes 'On Wenlock Edge' by Vaughan Williams, 'Boyhood's End' by Tippett and three Folk Songs arranged by Harvey Brough.
Huge thanks to everybody involved and to everybody who buys a disc. Headway North Cumbria benefits from each disc sold and we thank you for your support for such a deserving charity. We have already donated over £1200 from 'The Spirit of Christmas' and hope to raise a great deal more through sales of 'Boyhood's End'.
